Orchestras Feeding America

Jewish Family ServiceDid you know hunger is a significant problem in Colorado, with 1 in 10 Coloradans not having enough food? Hunger affects all ages, with 1 in 6 children not having enough to eat. Food donations drop after the holiday giving season, which puts a strain on food pantries and their ability to provide food to those in need.

During the month of March, the League of American Orchestras, of which the Arapahoe Philharmonic is a member, encourages participation in a program called “Orchestras Feeding America”, a food drive to replenish food banks across the country.

We are participating in this endeavor and have partnered with the Weinberg Food Pantry at Jewish Family Service. Jewish Family Service provides food and services to people in crisis without regard to faith, race, age, income or abilities, serving 22,000 people a year.

We will collect food donations at our March 10 concert. The items most needed include canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal, cereal, pasta and canned soups.

We hope you will help us feed those in need in our immediate communities by stopping by the Jewish Family Service table in the lobby at the February 10 concert to pick up a “Bag of Hope”. You can take this bag with you, fill it with non-perishable food items and bring it back with you to the March 10 concert. Thank you!
