POLICIES AND GENERAL INFORMATION
FACILITIES
APYO rehearsals are held at the South Suburban Christian Church 7275 South Broadway Avenue Littleton, Colorado 80122.
ATTENDANCE
PROMPTNESS and PERFECT ATTENDANCE are expected of all APYO students. Arrive for rehearsals at least 15 minutes
before the scheduled time to begin. You are to be tuned and in your chair when the music director/conductor takes
the podium. You cannot arrive at the hour assigned for rehearsal to begin and be "on time". Tardiness
or leaving a rehearsal early will count as 1/2 an absence.
· 100% attendance is important for the orchestra as a whole in order to have a complete and worthwhile rehearsal.
· A student absent from a dress rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the concert.
· A student who has two absences between concerts will have to re-audition before being allowed to participate
in the upcoming concert. Re-auditioning consists of performing some of the pieces that will be played at the upcoming
concert to ensure that the student is ready for the performance.
· Principal players may not miss either of the last two rehearsals before a concert and expect to maintain
their position at the concert.
SEATING POLICIES
APYO maintains high performance standards without stressing rank or chair positions. All positions are rotated
on a concert-to-concert basis to add to the orchestra training experience, especially in the woodwind, brass, and
percussion sections. The Music Director determines specifics of the rotations.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
· If a rehearsal needs to be canceled due to inclement weather:
1. Check your e-mail (the e-mail address you put on your audition application);
2. Check the APYO web site http://www.arapahoe-phil.org for information;
3. Check the APYO Office phone number at (303) 761-7938 for an informational recording;
4. You will receive a home phone call from the Communication Phone Tree Committee.
Decisions concerning cancellations due to weather will be made as soon as possible on the day of the rehearsal
or concert but could be as late as 4:30 P.M.
CONCERT ATTIRE
Boys are required to wear:
· Black pants
· White long-sleeved shirt
· Black bow tie
· Black socks
· Black dress shoes
Girls are required to wear:
· Black concert dresses (below the knee, conservative, no sleeveless)
Or Black concert skirt (long or below the knee) and white blouse
(no sleeveless or adornments)
Or Black pants (conservative, not tight, similar to boys concert . pants) and white blouse (no sleeveless or adornments)
· Black dress shoes and black hose.
